Managing programs and projects is a challenge - for both their business and IT perspective. While various paradigms exist, they are often adapted in the context of a domain, organisation and toolset used. Small inefficiencies in the beginning may grow to real problems over time with more people and activities involved and a history/legacy to manage. In this spotlight, SI aim to shine light on the opportunities that different program and project management methodologies present and allow our members to find the path forward that works best for them. SI invites speakers with profound expertise in program and project management and launches discussions on the topic.

We started strong into 2024 with our “Broadening our Horizons” event in Zurich last Thursday. Our speakers Dr. Kathrin Anne Meier and Bemi Okorodudu showed us the importance of finding serenity in our professional life and how active listening is an important soft skill to develop when you want to build your network right. An all around successful SI Evening Talk about networking came to an end with some good old-fashioned in-person networking between our participants. The relaxed atmosphere and the gender balance at the event made everyone excited to discuss and exchange.

As part of our SI Evening Talk series, a series of events where we facilitate discussion of various IT topics, SI invited Danilo Biella to Geneva to share his perspectives on the current state of Agile. 

Agile software development emerged in the early 2000s as a response to the limitations of traditional software development methodologies, such as the waterfall model. The Agile Manifesto, created by a group of software developers in 2001, outlined a set of values and principles for agile software development.

Agile emphasizes collaboration, flexibility, and responsiveness to change. Instead of a rigid, linear process, Agile is iterative and focuses on delivering working software in small, incremental steps. This allows teams to respond to feedback and changing requirements quickly.
